How to advertise on Ember
Six steps, start to finish. Most advertisers are running within two working days.
-
Create an account
Go to business.e-mbr.uk, click Create account, and confirm your email.
-
Tell us about your business
Your business name, website, email and address. A Companies House number if you have one - sole traders are welcome too. A person checks every business, usually within 2 working days.
-
Create your ad
Go to New ad. It is one page:
- What kind: a full-screen video, or a banner under the feed (see below).
- Where: anywhere on Ember, or only next to videos in the categories or with the hashtags you pick.
- Your ad: upload the video or banner, with a headline and the web address people go to.
- The most you want to spend, from £20. You pay a fixed price per 1,000 views, and the ad stops when it is used up.
We check every ad before it runs. If it is not approved, we tell you why.
-
Pay the invoice
Every ad has its own invoice number, like EMB-7K3QX. Pay by card, or press Bank transfer and we will email your invoice with our bank details. For a bank transfer, pay the exact amount and use that number as the payment reference. Nothing runs until it is paid.
-
Your ad runs
Marked Sponsored, next to the videos you chose. Pause or restart it any time.

Views, people reached, how many watched to the end, clicks, and what each cost - by day, by category and by time of day. Download them as a spreadsheet any time.
Two kinds of ad
Full-screen video
The most eye-catching. Plays between videos in the feed, full screen with sound, with your Learn more button. Portrait (9:16), up to 60 seconds. Sizes and files
Banner
Cheaper, and seen often. A strip under the video feed while people watch. An image of 1280 × 200 pixels; tapping it opens your web address. Sizes and files
Sizes and files
Get these right and your ad looks sharp on every phone.
Full-screen video
| Size | 1080 × 1920 pixels (portrait, 9:16). Landscape videos are cropped to fill the screen. |
|---|---|
| Length | Up to 60 seconds. 15 to 30 seconds works best. |
| File | MP4 (best) or MOV. Under 200 MB uploads fastest. |
| Sound | Plays with sound on. Add captions too - some people watch muted. |
and logos

headline and
Learn more button
- Keep the bottom 560 pixels clear. Your business name, headline and the Learn more button sit on top of it.
- Keep the top 150 pixels clear. The Sponsored label sits there.
- Leave a little space at the sides - about 60 pixels - as some phones are narrower.
- You do not need your own button. Learn more is added for you and opens your link.
Banner
| Size | 1280 × 200 pixels exactly (a 6.4 : 1 strip). 640 × 100 also works. |
|---|---|
| File | PNG, JPG or WebP. Up to 1 MB. |
| Shown at | About 320 × 50 on a phone - a quarter of the size you design it. |
- Big, bold text. At least 60 pixels tall in your 1280 × 200 image, or it is too small to read.
- Six words or fewer. People glance at it while watching.
- A dark background blends in with the app. Bright colours for your logo or offer.
- Keep words away from the edges - about 50 pixels on each side.
- The whole banner is tappable, so a drawn button like Order now › helps people know they can tap.
Tips for a good ad
- Grab attention in the first 2 seconds. People are scrolling.
- Film in portrait. It fills the whole phone screen.
- Show the product or the result, not just a logo.
- Add captions. Some people watch with the sound off.
- Keep it short. 15 to 30 seconds usually works best.
- Make the link match the ad. Send people straight to what they just saw.
Questions
What counts as a view?
Your ad on screen for 2 seconds (1 second for a banner). The same person counts at most 3 times an hour for your ad, at least 15 minutes apart, so loops and quick rewatches are never charged.
Who sees my ad?
People in the UK watching the videos you chose. Ads are matched to what is being watched, never to personal details.
Can I see who watched?
No. You see totals only. We never share who watched or clicked.
What if I do not spend my whole budget?
Pause or stop any time. Unspent budget can be refunded or moved to another campaign - email ads@e-mbr.uk.
What is not allowed?
Gambling, crypto and loans, alcohol, vapes and tobacco, drugs and medicines, weight-loss claims, dating and adult content, weapons, and political ads. The full list is in the ad policy.
How do I get help?
